The Volunteer’s Role
As the Dietician Advisor, you will support the efforts of the Regional Health Management Team (RHMT) in improving their knowledge of translating the science of nutrition into everyday information about food to improve the health and well-being of patients and clients. With the help of RHMT members, you will be able to provide advice and counselling about diet, food and nutrition. Your work will also include enhancing the use of evidence coupled with good judgment about the clients' or communities’ unique values and circumstances to determine guidance and recommendations. You will work in a variety of settings, but the majority of the time you will be working with the department of nutrition in the region.
As a volunteer, you will:
-Provide advisory services to the RHMT so that it is able to provide dietary services in accordance with local guidelines, laws and regulations
-Help the RHMT in developing nutrition plans and implement interventions based on the health status of patients and communities
-Support in the delivery of client nutrition recommendations to physicians, nurses and aides
Essential Academic Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or related field
Essential Professional Background:
-At least two years of related experience
-Excellent interpersonal skills
-Experience with data entry and data analysis
-Strong problem solving, project management and organization skills
